Lead actors John Abraham and Aishwariya Rai may opt out of the forthcoming movie Happy Birthday produced by Gaurang Doshi, who is now embroiled in an alleged harassment and rape case.

“Despite several round of talks, Aishwariya has still not decided whether to do the movie or not,” said Hari Singh, the actor’s secretary. According to sources, the movie idea was discussed with Rai by the director, Sreeram Raghavan.

But she wanted to have a look at the script before signing the movie, sources said. “Regarding Doshi’s matter, I can’t comment. She is busy shooting ‘Jodha Akbar’ now and then the marriage and the honey-moon. It’s a long way,” said Singh.

Similarly, Bhaskar Shetty, who handles John Abraham’s works, said: “Doshi’s is a personal matter. John is currently shooting in London. He’ll take the call after he returns.”

Shetty said the actor signed the project because Raghavan had approached him. The police on Wednesday submitted the report to the court.

According to police sources, the report holds Doshi prima facie guilty of assaulting Saini. Senior police inspector Vijay Sonawane confirmed that the medical report proved Doshi’s crime. “The X-ray report shows Saini has suffered fractures,” said Sonawane.

ACP (west) Bipin Bihari said, “Saini met me at my office. I could clearly see the injury marks on her face. We have a tight case against Doshi. Even the airport has been alerted so that he does not leave the country.”

Doshi told DNA, “I’m innocent. Saini was never my girlfriend, nor did she stay with me.”
