Is Aishwarya Rai a Bachchan already?

The festivities associated with Abhishek’s wedding with Aishwarya are expected to span three days. There will be a Sangeet ceremony on the 18 Apr and a Mehendi ceremony on the 19 Apr, both at the Bachchan residence – Jalsa.

Abhihsek will wed Aishawarya in the early morning hours of 20 Apr at Bachchan’s bungalow – Prateeksha. The baaraat will leave Jalsa for Prateeksha on the night of 19 Apr.

Hindu marriages were traditionally solemnized at the bride’s house. These days, however, it is not uncommon for the bride’s parents to arrange the wedding at a venue outside their house to accommodate larger number of guests.

However, it is unprecedented for the bride’s parents to arrange a wedding in the house that belongs to the boy’s family. If the wedding is to be in a house, it has to be in the bride’s house, according to Hindu tradition.

Amitabh Bachchan is on record saying the wedding will be a low key affair in view of his mother’s indifferent health. A small inner circle of family and friends are expected to attend with some reports suggesting a total of just 20 guests.

The Bachchans are known to be staunch and unabashed traditionalist. They believe in their faith, they visit temples and they consult priests and even astrologers.

What happened to their respect for Hindu traditions when it came to choosing a venue for the wedding?

Just asking!
