Abhishek–Aishwarya wedding to boost the Bachchan brand

Things couldn’t be better for the Bachchans and deservedly so. Amitabh has scaled new peaks in his prolific career as a talented actor and star. Abhishek’s stock is high, as high as it will ever go we feel, after a creditable performance in Guru. Similarly, Aishwarya is doing as well as she will ever do with her performances in Guru and Provoked. Jaya Bachchan too continues to hang in to a career that is a pale shadow of her Guddi days.

Public acceptance of the Bachchan family is widespread and corporate honchos are tripping over each other to sign up Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya for product endorsements.

It is estimated that the Bachchan brand is worth Rs 600 crores. Following the Abhishek – Aishwarya wedding on April 20 it is expected to rise higher.

Understandably, the Bachchans plans to cash in with a World Performance Tour while memories of the wedding are still fresh in the minds of millions of fans worldwide!

Reports say Wizcraft, one of India’s biggest event organizing companies, was to hold a press conference just before 20th April 2007 to announce the mega event in which the father-son pair would tour the world with the new Bachchan bahu to perform live on stage with a carefully chosen ensemble.

The tour, planned for later months of this year, would see the Big B, Abhishek and Aishwarya appearing together for the first time on stage as ‘family.’

However, according to reports, a concerned Jaya Bachchan has nixed plans for the media conference to announce the Tour, and she has her reasons.

She believes, like a lot of Indian mothers and wives in her position would, that the bridal couple should not appear in public in this manner and invite the ‘evil eye’ of jealous people!
