AISHWARYA RAI will break with Indian tradition when she continues her acting career, following her marriage to actor ABHISHEK BACHCHAN in the biggest wedding in Bollywood history.

The superstar couple tied the knot in a modest ceremony at the Bachchan family home in Mumbai, India, the climax of three-days of festivities last week (20Apr07).

But while most women are expected to give up their careers to become housewives, the former Miss World will carry on acting with her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan’s approval.

Screen icon Bachchan Sr married his actress wife Jaya in 1973, and she gave up her career to raise a family soon after.

But that will not be the case with Aishwarya, who has decided to adopt the name of her husband. Amitabh says, “Jaya and I have insisted that Aishwarya must continue with her acting career.

There is no problem or issue with us. “They will live with us. This decision came voluntarily from both Abhishek and Aishwarya.”
