Abhishek could give patriarchy a kick and return his family to its roots if he were to adopt Aishwarya Rai’s last name rather than the other way around.
His grandfather, the distinguished poet Harivansh Rai Srivastava of Madhushala fame, traded his name to Bachchan while studying English literature at Cambridge University in the early 1950s.
Abhishek Rai has the right ring to it and also puts the marriage on the right scale. What say you?
