Jodhaa Akbar was finally released after all the delays on 15th Feb 2008. The mega blockbuster with the magical pair of Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai was in controversy even before its release.

The same has been the case with many historical movies. Mangal Pandey, Bhagat Singh etc all historical movies get into public controversies. The Rajput community has challenged certain issues of the movie.

However the movie is doing big business on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. It is estimated to have garnered $1.3 million in USA and $750,000 in England over the weekend itself.

Figures from India are being compiled. The movie will certainly do well. The movie was a slow starter. However in the later part of the first and early second week it has done good business. The figures for the weekend are likely to reach 17 Crores. The reviews have been strong and it is expected to do great business in the coming weeks.
