Aishwarya Rai wants to get back in to shape. She is following a strict diet and exercise regime. Apparently she requires being the way she was before marriage to get back in the business.

“Ashwarya thinks she has put on a lot of weight after the wedding. So she is working very hard as she wants to go back to her earlier shape and weight. She is going to the gym regularly and is on a very strict diet,” says a close friend.

And it’s not just the Bachchan bahu who is on a weight loss mission. She has also roped in hubby Abhishek Bachchan.

“Abhishek has also put on some weight recently. He wants to get back into shape and in fact build some muscle. He wants to have a six pack ideally. Right now, with him filming away from home he hasn’t been very regular with his work outs.

But Ash is keeping a tab on his food. She regularly checks in to see what he is eating and whether he is eating on time. So this way the two of them are working towards achieving their goal,” says the friend.

Aishwarya and Abhishek are to begin work on Mani Ratnam’s as yet untitled project from September. It is said to be an intense love story and quite different from Ratnam’s usual films.

“Ash and Abhishek want to look very fit in the film. They want it to be as successful as Guru. And comparisons are going to be natural so they want to be sure that they are ready for their look in the film,” adds the source.
