Everyone knows that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the first choice for Dostana but she backed out at the last minute. “I had agreed to do Dostana at the outset and we were really looking forward to having a fun time. But I opted to sit out primarily because this movie was to be done immediately after my wedding,” she says.

Ash also thought that she would look a little out of place as the movie is about the chemistry and rapport between the characters played by John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan. “There is a love story, but that is certainly not the focal point of the film.”

She adds, “Dostana was fun, frothy and popcorn entertainment, whereas Sarkar Raj (which released after marriage too) was of a serious genre. So I spoke to Karan (Johar) and decided not to do the film.”
