The new Umrao Jaan of Bollywood finds herself embroiled in a new controversy. Bollywood’s ice maiden, Aishwarya Rai, finds herself in a tight spot – having to explain to the customs department why a parcel containing 23,000 Euros was sent to her?
Customs Commissioner, AK Prasad said, “We’ve already informed her and hopefully she’ll appear this week. We know that she’s shooting in Jaipur and we hope as soon as she arrives in Mumbai, she’ll testify on this issue.”
Ash has been in the media spotlight over the past few weeks, largely to promote her forthcoming big banner releases like Dhoom 2 and Mani Ratnam’s Guru. But this is one issue where Ms. Rai does not want to be caught with a quote. Not that the actress is owning up to having received the money – her lawyers claim that she has nothing to do with it.
Speaking to TIMES NOW, Aishwarya’s lawyer, Girish Kulkarni said, “We never had any contract now have we asked anyone to anybody to send the money. It’s neither our money nor are we claiming it. Since it has been named to Aishwarya Rai, we have been brought into this controversy.”
Over 20,000 Euros or nearly 15 lakh rupees were sent in a parcel for Ms. Aishwarya Rai. But this is one hot package that Ms. Rai refuses to touch even with a bargepole. The question that’s looming large is who actually sent the money and why to Ash?
