If we go through the list, the first Miss India to make a mark in the entertainment world was Persis Khambatta ( Miss India 1965). Persis starred in the highly popular series, “Star Trek” and Newsweek called her the Sophia Lauren of India. In 1979, Swaroop Sampat won the covetted title.

Swaroop was the lead in the TV comedy Yeh Jo Hain Zindagi and went on to marry the comedy king Paresh Rawal. The next year, 1980 it was time for Sangeeta Bijlani who starred in a number of Bollywood movies and married cricketer Azharuddin, an affair which created quite a storm. Pamela, Miss India 1982 was more of a celebrity for wrong reasons.

Aishwarya Rai, for the first time will be seen in a Ram Gopal Varma film. As per latest, Ash has been signed up for ‘Sarkar’ sequel, where she will be seen sharing screen space with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan. Last the three were seen together in ‘Bunty Aur Babli’.
In a recent interview, Ramu confirmed the news, “Yes, Aishwarya has been roped in for ‘Sarkar’ 2″.
Ramu said the reason for casting Ash is because he wanted to work with the actress for a long time now.

It’s been ten long years since Aishwarya Rai came into the Hindi film industry and there’s been no looking back for her. She was crowned ‘Miss World’ in 94-95 and then moved onto acting.

Although she had several flops at the start of her career this actress came into the limelight with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and his ‘Devdas’.

‘Sarkar’ 2, which will carry forward the story of the Godfather – like political clan, will now have Abhishek playing the savior of the downtrodden. The senior Bachchan has confirmed his comparatively lesser presence in the sequel to ‘Sarkar’.

Aishwarya Rai maintained her unbeaten run at the Most Popular Bollywood Star 2006 contest here at desifans.com as she beat her long time rival Sushmita Sen in a somewhat closely fought contest to reach the semi finals.

The contest was swaying Sushmita Sen’s way till the halfway and then Ash leaped forward in the last few days to win the round 54:44. The Dhoom2 girl meets Fanaah girl Kajol in the semi finals. Kajol after a dream comeback in Faana is still in the hearts of thousands of fans. She proved that by winning her quarter final round by beating beauty queen and much younger counterpart Priyanka Chopra comprehensively in a 67:33 margin.

Bollywood hot and sultry bomb shell was not much of a fight for the hugely talented Rani Mukherjee. The bengali actresses fought it out with Rani, the queen she is, winning 61% of the total votes. In another quarter final, Preity Zinta just walked over Kareena Kapoor winning more than 72% of the popular votes. With the hits lined one after another, Preity surely has a huge number of fans .. and even in her semi final match, she is leading over Rani by a decent margin. Sneha Ullal has been signed up for a Hollywood movie ‘Gandhi Park’, to be directed by Tom George.
How did Hollywood happen to her? Has she bagged the role because of her resemblance to Aishwarya Rai? “I don’t think so. If they wanted Ash, they would have directly approached her,â€? Sneha quipped. But isn’t the Ash tag still attached to her? “The resemblance is there. But so what? The comparisons have become less,â€? said the Aishwarya look-alike heroine.
Sure Sneha is struggling with her look, which has close resemblance to Ash. Right!

Upendra- and Deepika Padukone-starrer “Aishwarya” is the undoubted leader among this fortnight’s Kannada films.

The top five Kannada films are:

1. “Aishwarya” - The film has elicited such a huge response in the opening week that the industry has already declared it a big hit. Directed by Indrajith Lankesh, it is expected to have a sustained run and the credit goes to Upendra’s performance and Deepika’s glamour.

2. “Sevanthi Sevanthi” - It has already completed 100 days in major centres and is set for a silver-jubilee run in at least two or three centres. Directed by S. Narayan, the film has given actor Vijaya Raghavendra a fresh lease of life.

The hottest couple in the tinsel town will be seen together in Ram Gopal Varma’s sequel of Sarkar . Although there are still months left for the project to go on the floors, Ramu has confirmed the presence of Aishwarya Rai in Sarkar 2 . She will play the lead role opposite Abhishek Bachchan .

‘Sarkar 2′ will also be the second film to bring Amitabh Bachchan , Abhishek and Aishwarya together on the big screen. The trio previously jammed together for the song “Kajra Re” in the last year’s hit Bunty Aur Babli . In Ramu’s film, however, their roles will be properly fleshed out.
