i think all right thinking and morally privileged indians should praise the Bachchan family, Ashwariya Rai and her would-be husband Abhishek for getting Ash’s kissing scene with Hrithik Roshan chopped off the film Dhoom 2!

it shows that they realise it was a mistake on her part and that there is genuine regret for the same. Also, this act by the First Man of Bollywood will send much needed positive signals all over the indian film world to prove that such scenes are not necessary after all to deliver a story nuance to the audience. if Yash Raj Films thought that kiss scene was certainly relevant to convey a nuance then i am sure they would not have removed it at all.

The most-talked about Bollywood couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai sought blessings of the deity at the famous Vindhyavasini Temple on January 27th, making their first public appearance together after their engagement.

The Bachchan family offered prayers at the temple of Maa Bhagwati, seeking her blessings in the run-up to the Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding. Aishwarya caught eyes of everyone present there by sporting a ’sindoor’ on her forehead.

A PiL has been filed in Patna High Court seeking direction to the state government and Bihar State Religious Trust Board (BSRTB) to stop the practice of marrying a Manglik -born bride first with tree, God or animal prior to marrying her to a non- Manglik bridegroom.

in her PiL, lawyer Shruti Singh has raised the issue that first marrying a Manglik girl to tree, God or animal prior to her marriage to the human bridegroom is a practice of untouchability which has been prohibited under the indian Constitution. “This is derogatory to a woman,” she said in the PiL.

The PiL has highlighted the recent marrying of the film star Aishwarya Rai with a peepal tree at Benaras, with banana tree at a temple in Bangalore and with the idol of a god in Ayodhya before her yet-to-be-performed marriage with Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan, who is a non- Manglik . Such marriages of Aishwarya Rai were performed not only in violation of Article 17 of the Constitution - which prohibits untouchability, but also a violation of the fundamental human rights, Shruti said in the PiL. After his engagement to Aishwarya Rai, here’s first loss, Abhishek Bachchan incurred, as Ford Fiesta today announced that it would not be renewing its December 2005 endorsement deal with Abhishek Bachchan which expired last month.

Scott McCormack, Ford india ’s Vice president, marketing, confirmed as much. “We have not renewed the endorsement deal with Abhishek Bachchan,” agencies quoted him as saying.
The industry buzz is that Abhishek has ratcheted up his brand ambassador fees, riding the success of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Guru’.

More for the fact that France is taking notice of the people in the indian film industry. indian cinema is going global and is gathering foreign clientele. it feels great to know that the French have a very strong affliction towards indian cinema. i hope this enhances our prospects of winning similar awards in other parts of the world. British Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown, who was in india earlier this month, was reportedly floored by Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in the “Kajra re” song in which the actor shakes a leg with his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law to be Aishwarya Rai.

He had paid a very special visit to Yash Raj Studios. Apart from Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar, one of the very special invitees to meet the man, who could become the next prime minister of Britain, was of course Amitabh. He spent a good half an hour chatting with Brown.

When Aishwarya Rai got engaged to Abhishek Bachchan early this month there was widespread speculation about her future in filmdom. While her would-be in-laws say they have no problems with her continuing in films, some producers fear she may quit after marriage just like Jaya Bachchan did.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was non-committal on whether he would invite the Gandhis for the wedding of his son Abhishek Bachchan with Aishwarya Rai.

“We have not yet decided what kind of a marriage it is going to be. Once we decide we will work on invitations,” he told a TV channel when asked whether old relationships would be revived during marraige time.

Bachchan, who was brought into Parliament by Rajiv Gandhi but is said to be not on good terms with Sonia Gandhi, was very effusive about his relationship with Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, describing him as an excellent human being and a wonderful companion.
