Hrithik Roshan may have had some discomfort playing Emperor Akbar due to the heavy attire, but the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan loved playing Rajput princess Jodhaa Bai in Jodhaa Akbar .

In an interview the Bachchan bahu said the heavy costumes, elaborate sets or feisty sword fights notwithstanding, she enjoyed every moment of the film that is directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar and scheduled to release on February 15.

Aishwarya Rai will star in one of the most expensive French film series of Asterix and Obelix. The film titled, Asterix at the Olympic Games is reported to be one of the most expensive European films at approximately 93 million dollars.

Apparently the film is also slated to premiere in India at the prestigious French Film Festival. Ash seems keen to fill her kitty with a number of international films.

According to sources, the makers of the Asterix series have written a special role just for Aishwarya. Bollywood bad boy Salman Khan, star of such films as Maine Pyar Kiya and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, arrived at Madame Tussaud’s in London today for the unveiling of his newly commissioned waxwork - much to the embarrassment of fellow Indian actor Abhishek Bachchan and his beautiful actress wife Aishwarya Rai.

Why? Not only because Salman and Aishwarya were once lovers and his figure will stand alongisde hers at the wax museum. But to rub it in, there is no waxwork of Abhishek: when a poll was held last August to decide who should join the small Bollywood crowd at Madame Tussaud’s, Salman won it hands down and Abhishek, who married Aishwaraya last April, was among the losers.

Salman Khan, a dedicated bodybuilder who has been voted among the 10 most handsome men in the world, was travelling to London with his new actress girlfriend, Katrina Kaif. Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan along with director Ashutosh Gowariker unveiled the special 1ssue of Filmfare on Jodhaa Akbar at the Le Royal Meridien, Santacruz, Mumbai, 11 Jan 2008.

Aishwarya, despite a glowing complexion and well done hair, disappointed us with her beige georgette kurta and churidar pajama.

The Bachchans have decided to build a new school for underprivilged girls in the Daulatpur village in Uttar Pradesh.

The girls school, which was being planned for some time had its construction held up due to contention over land certificates.

We wonder what happened to Aishwarya Rai yesterday when she suddenly developed a heavy American accent similar to Madhuri Dixit. The entire time during the event which was the launch of the music for the film Jodhaa Akbar,

Ash had a very put on kind of accent. Even during her interview she didn’t let it slip and kept it going right till the end.

It just makes us think whether she is being carried away with Hollywood or is she trying to impress them to get into another crossover film.

The music of Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical love story was released by an erstwhile royal who is a direct descendent of queen Jodhabai, and the director says people have liked the modern adaptation of 16th century sounds.

“The response to the first two songs has been surprisingly positive. People were expecting archaic songs, but they liked the modern adaptation of 16th century sounds,” Gowariker told IANS in an interview.

At the music launch of Jodhaa Akbar on Wednesday night, the hosts Ashutosh Gowariker and producer Ronnie Screwvala made every effort to transport us to the Mughal era, complete with a royal throne, palanquin and the Maharani of Jaipur, Padmini.

However, Hrithik Roshan left his emperor’s dress at home and Aishwarya Rai settled for a heavily embroidered cotton kurti for the ‘royal’ do.

Putting all rumours to rest, the lead pair was seen chatting with each other, and Ash especially, seemed to be extremely delighted in Roshan Junior’s company, as father-in-law and Bollywood’s first man Amitabh Bachchan and close family friend Amar Singh remained seated in the audience. Young and dynamic director Ashutosh Gowariker, who is ready with Jodhaa-Akbar, says he was fascinated by the relationship that the two historical figures must have shared after marriage.

“I feel if today we make a story about the past, it must be correlated to the present. And ‘Jodhaa-Akbar’ is as relevant to the present as arranged marriages.

Dressed in a glittering ethnic churidar dress Aishwarya Rai exuded Mughal opulence and serene beauty at Jodhaa Akbar music launch at Grand Hyatt, Kalina, Mumbai late Wednesday evening, January 9.

Aishwarya, 34, wore a cream brocade short silk kurta with jeweled neckline and cuffs.The golden studs accented the entire kurta.
