Aishwarya Rai has filed for divorce on grounds of irreconcilable differences. But insiders say that Aishwarya had been talking to Abhishek for long time regarding kids and Abhi wasn’t too keen on the idea to begin with. Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai were conferred the Padmashri awards at a function in New Delhi.

The function took place at Ashoka Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Seated among the audiences were hubby Abhishek Bachchan , in-laws Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan and Ash’s parents.

Dressed in a traditional outfit, Aishwarya performed with Shiamak Davar and his troupe for nearly an hour. The performances, set to a medley of popular Bollywood number, showcased the colours, heritage and music of India.

It’s the autumn/winter fashion season in India and it continues today with the start of Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. The week begins with a showcase special to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Barbie. In addition, Mattel have announced that a new Barbie doll would be based on Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, rubbishing earlier rumours that it would be based on Aishwarya Rai.

Designers including Vikram Phadnis , Wendell Rodericks , Neeta Lulla, Shantanu and Nikhil will all be participating in the Barbie – All Doll’d Up show, each having designed a special outfit based on Barbie’s first fifty years. Katrina Kaif will be taking to the runway as part of the show. “Every girl at some point of time in her childhood has played with a Barbie doll,” says Katrina, “and so have I. Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan praised Indian music maestro A R Rahman and said that she is elated at his double Oscar win at the Academy Awards.

Speaking at a press conference in Kolkata, she said that as a music lover,she has always been a Rahman’s fan.
